Dirt work and remediation in Midland-Odessa

Dirt work is moving and shaping ground: clearing, cutting, filling, compacting and grading so a site drains and supports what goes on it. Soil remediation is treating or replacing ground that has been affected by spills or other contamination so it meets the standard the site needs.

In the Permian, dirt work builds and maintains well pads, lease roads, tank battery pads and equipment yards. Caliche is the usual surfacing material. Remediation work often follows a release, or comes at the end of a well's life when a location is reclaimed.

We handle site prep, grading and soil remediation around Midland, Odessa and the Permian Basin, on oilfield sites and others.

What affects scheduling and price

Dirt work is priced on the volume of material moved, the equipment needed, haul distance for fill or caliche, site access and how much finish grading is required. Remediation adds the cost of removing affected soil, disposal and any testing.

Weather affects scheduling more than most people expect: rain can shut down dirt work for days. Material availability and how far fill has to travel also play a part.

Safety basics

Before any digging, call 811 and get the operator's pipeline and flowline locates; leases often have buried lines that are not marked on the surface. Watch overhead power lines, keep traffic plans clear around machines, and treat affected soil according to the operator's requirements.

How to prepare the site

To prepare, flag the corners of the area you want worked, mark anything that must stay (fences, risers, markers, trees), and clear equipment and stored material off the ground. If the site has a survey or a target elevation, share it before the crew shows up. For remediation, keep the affected area fenced or flagged so traffic does not spread the material, and have any lab results ready, since they decide how much soil comes out and where it can go.
