On-Site and Group Safety Training

Simba Services · Updated

When you have a crew, it is often easier to bring the class to them than to send everyone to town. This guide covers how on-site and group classes work with us, what they cost, sample totals for different crew sizes, and the other costs worth counting. The short version: H2S is $125 per person, or $105 each for 4 or more, and we teach at your site on any day.

What we teach on site

  • H2S safety, 4 hours
  • American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED, 2 hours, 2-year card
  • Both on the same day

Each class takes up to 10 people. We bring the training gear, including CPR manikins and AED trainers.

Prices

Class1–3 people4 or more, each
H2S safety (4 hours)$125$105
First Aid/CPR/AED (2 hours, Red Cross)$95$80
Both, same day$199$170

The same prices apply at your site and in our open classes. Taking both on the same day saves $21 per person, or $15 each in a group of 4 or more, compared with booking them separately.

Sample totals

  • 4 people, First Aid/CPR/AED: $320 (instead of $380)
  • 6 people, H2S: $630 (instead of $750)
  • 10 people, both classes: $1,700 (instead of $1,990)

When on-site makes sense

  • You have 4 or more people who need the same class.
  • Your location is a long drive from Greenwood.
  • Shift schedules make a fixed Thursday class hard.
  • You want everyone on the same renewal date.

For 1 to 3 people, the open Thursday or Saturday class is usually simpler.

Mixed needs on one crew

Not everyone needs the same class. Oilfield hands working around H2S may need both. Office staff or a data center crew may only need First Aid/CPR/AED. Tell us who needs what, and we can plan the day so people only sit through the classes they need. A common layout is H2S in the morning for the field hands, then First Aid/CPR/AED in the afternoon for everyone.

If your site is far from EMS, OSHA's first aid rule may require trained people on site. See OSHA first aid rules for remote job sites.

Planning for a large crew

With a 10-person limit, a crew of 25 needs three sessions. For H2S at the group rate, that is 25 × $105 = $2,625. Spreading sessions across a day or two lets you keep part of the crew working while the rest are in class.

A year of training for a 10-person crew

If all 10 need H2S every year and Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED every two years:

  • H2S each year: 10 × $105 = $1,050
  • First Aid/CPR/AED every two years: 10 × $80 = $800, or about $400 a year
  • Average: about $1,450 a year for the crew

In the years both classes fall due, the same-day rate brings that year's total to $1,700. To keep it simple, list each person's expiration dates, group people whose cards run out in the same month or two, and book those groups together. New hires can join the next open class.

How that compares

Public price lists from Permian training providers we checked on October 1, 2026 showed first aid/CPR/AED at about $75 to $125 per person and H2S courses at about $50 to $250, depending on the course and card. Some providers require a minimum headcount. Some local colleges offer grant-funded classes at no cost, with fixed dates and minimum enrollment.

Compare the card each option issues, not just the price. An H2S card your operator does not accept is not a savings. See H2S Awareness vs. H2S Clear.

Other costs to count

  • Time off the job. H2S is 4 hours and First Aid/CPR/AED is 2. Both on one day fills most of a shift.
  • Travel. Driving a crew to a class and back adds hours and mileage. An on-site class removes that.
  • Renewals. Most H2S training renews every year. Red Cross CPR certificates last two years (Red Cross). Training people together keeps renewals together.

Before the class

  • Confirm the card. Check which H2S course your operator accepts and tell us when you book.
  • Headcount. Give us a number so we can plan sessions.
  • Space. A room or covered area with seats and a power outlet, and enough floor space for CPR practice on manikins.
  • Names. Have each person's full name ready for their card.

Booking

On the booking form, choose "At your site," pick a date and give the number of people. Add anything else in the message, such as which people need which class, or the H2S card your operator requires. We reply the same day to confirm the date and the total for your crew.

Pick "At your site" on the booking form and tell us the date and headcount.
